mood: accomplishedaccomplished
music: Everyone's A Little Bit Racist, OBC Recording: Avenue Q

Hey everyone, I am in the process of writing my book of poetry. It's all based on a true life; my life. Read them and let me know what you think. Keep in mind, the subject matter is mature and has major political and sociological themes. Come back and tell me what you think! Thanks!

When God Children Attack

Dec. 28th, 2005 | 07:14 pm
mood: tiredtired
music: The Wizard and I, Original Broadway Cast Recording: Wicked

This one will be short. I haven't seen my God Children in almost a year. Eli is still as hyper as he always was. Baby Lucy was only 8 months old when she last saw me. It took her a good 3 hours just to get used to me talking to her before she'd go running to her mother or Nathan. LOL! The pivotal moment: I had to go to the restroom after a grueling hour and a half of Texas Holdem with Larry, Mother Rodriguez, and Ruthie. The house is split level, so I had to go down two sets of stairs to get to the bathroom. As I do my thing, I hear screaming, Lucy, outside the bathroom. I finish, wash my hands, and leave the bathroom. Low and behold, Baby LuLu was standing at the top of the stairs staring at the bathroom door teary eyed. We were inseparable from that moment until she went to bed. Of course Eli was jealous of the attention I showed to Lucy, so I gave him my digital camera to keep him occupied; it worked!

A Christmas Day Viewing of Brokeback Mountain

Dec. 25th, 2005 | 11:43 pm
mood: energeticenergetic
music: Jack's Lament, Nightmare Before Christmas Soundtrack

The day started as I walked to Farmer Boy's with my roomie and ate Christmas breakfast. We were sitting at the table and ate our food. June, being a 47 year old woman, was super flirty with 3 fire fighters that entered the building after us. Being Christmas, and to harrass me for saying that one of the FF's was totally hot, she invited them to sit at our table. OMG, June was almost killed, but I was thwarted by my own personal heart attack as the "hot" FF sat right next to me in the booth. (I died and prayed I he'd give me mouth-to-mouth).

FAST FORWARD: Benny and I enjoy the comfort of the Virgin MegaStore at the Brea Mall while waiting for Joanna and Mike to join us for our viewing of the lovingly dubbed "BareBack Mountain". As the over-sexed couple arrives to meet us, I noticed Joanna had a rather large rock attached to her ring finger! Apparently, they had been waiting all day for that exact moment to tell me that Mike had proposed, (naked nonetheless, after taking a shit apparently).

CRITIQUE: Brokeback Mountain

It had the potential...what went wrong? I know that Hollywood was anticipating this movie for a while. I first saw the previews while going to see RENT and thought to myself, "That movie is going to change a lot." I knew that the movie would have major effects on the politics of movie making as far as homosexuality is concerned. Jyllenhaal and Ledger are major heavy hitters in the industry and I was excited to see how it would turn out. Unfortunately, the movie was dry and exhausted. So much could have been done with the plot. So much...but, like a dying animal, the plot and pace of the story crawled at a snails pace. I would have expected a much more powerful performance from Ledger (not to mention it was hard to decipher his mumbling). Jyllenhaal did well with his character and his performance was just as good as ever. Anne Hathaway? AMAZING! If I could ever give an award for the most outstanding performance for an actor/actress, she'd get it for her roll as Jyllenhaal's wife. I was very impressed with her dramatic change from playful broad to rigid pennypusher.

Highlight of the Night: A random woman, apparently not aware of the subject matter of the movie got up and huffed out of the theater after the first sex scene. LOL! Maybe you should watch previews before you spend $10 to see a movie on Christmas Night. (And now I bow!)

In The Beginning, There was a Man Named "Pleasure Spot"

Dec. 24th, 2005 | 09:00 pm
mood: chipperchipper
music: One Song Glory, Original Broadway Cast Recording: RENT

"December 24th, 9PM, Eastern Standard Time, From Here On In I Shoot Without A Script! See If Anything Comes Of It! Instead Of My Old Shit!"

Tomorrow is Christmas, I am being forced to go to Palm Springs with my mom to have dinner with her family tonight. Can anyone say "Geriatrics Convention"? It was absolutely amazing. Lately, like most holiday seasons, I have been listening to the OBC recording of RENT, 1996. The movie just came out and I have to say that I am quite impressed with the quality and the return of the most of the OBC! Needless to say, the story still holds true to it's origins even in today's society. The obvious issues are still prevalent: AIDS, homosexuality, oppression, and the sociological disillusion that poverty isn't as large a problem as it really is....ACTUAL REALITY, ACT UP, FIGHT AIDS!

Finances are a major theme in my life this week. Ironically, considering the previous paragraph, rent is due. I won't get my check from work until the 3rd, so I think the manager of the apartment complex will live. The check will be late, unless she wants to deal with a bounced check. I had to completely empty out my bank account for Christmas shopping, not to mention I have to fly to Salt Lake the week of the 2nd. (Shakes head wildly) I'm going batty!

Merry Christ-Mu-Hanuk-Kwanza!
